Actually, there are MANY (proven and scientifically based) benefits and health positives for circumcision. Plus, on top of all that, there is nothing grosser than foreskin. yuckh. And no matter how often you clean it , it will stink. The uncut guys I have been around, even if they had JUST taken a shower, there was always this faint odour to it. It is esthetically gross (foreskin) and feels/tastes awful. Even if there weren’t ANY benefits to circ. I’d still be glad that I am cut.
I know this is an old post h/e I agree. But I think the same should apply to adoption.
im just trying to make it known that circumcisions are done caz of profiteering i hope that the word gets spread around enough that it just stops happening unless its done as a bris

make it so babys cant be circumsized there r health benefits for the foreskin i mean siriously if u r ganna have no abortion due to relgious reasons well circumcision is a religious thing so it shouldnt be in there
at least we have a true trigger for the public option and hopefully some of that stuff will be changed later on and if more illigal abortions happen then it will deff change

I am not sure why you are cursing and screaming at me. I agree with you that Stupak’s amendment should be defeated. To be as clear as I possibly can be, I am deeply troubled by the Stupak amendment. I thought it was sneaky and intellectually dishonest. Save the disrepectful for enemies. I am not your enemy.
Yep, thanks for pointing this out. This was sold as critical to help the uninsured. Now it’s become a way to make sure they are paying their fair share, and penalize them if they don’t buy in. Wow, if that isn’t conservative philosophy, what is?
What’s next? Force the poor to buy into private 401Ks and penalize them if they don’t? How about forcing them to buy life insurance so we don’t have to care for their children? I mean, they need to pay their fair share, Repub – I mean Democrats, say so.
I have the same dilemma, Minion. Ultimately I am pro-choice within the first trimester. The primary reason is that it’s a life, but it’s connected to the woman’s body, so she needs to be allowed to decide, right or wrong.
At some point you have to draw the line, and I think society has drawn it at a good point. It’s a good compromise and I think it would be best for everyone to leave it and save energy for bigger battles – like poverty and other social issues that contribute to abortion.
The thing here is distinguishing between an eternal soul and a soul with physical life (human being). From a spiritual perspective free will, is the function of the soul. Our choices are not the chance firings of neurons. However, a nervous system is required for free will to exist. This develops (correct me if i’m wrong) at no earlier than 8 weeks after conception. This is no reason to casually terminate earlier than this, but I think that’s more of a “birth control” issue.

Well, my friend, that is very much the case. Most people believe that abortion is necessary to some degree, but most people believe that abortion should be restricted. I personally believe that abortion be restricted to the health of the mother, rape, or incest. Having said that, I would gladly join you in asking for the withdrawl of the Stupak Amendment.

i see the benefits of this american idea of having the conversation even if its premises seem absurd, but a society should have at least some basic moral ground work, and the limitless hypocrisy and cynicism the right wing shows in almost every issue should violate any such ground work
I am pro-choice. AND I am a strong believer in birth control and EDUCATION. My life would be so different now at age 38 if I had had access to better knowledge. My children now in their 20’s would have had a better life. I did what had to be done, college, $30thou job, home but doing it alone I missed out on raising my children. If I had had children just a couple years later….who knows…..I might have gotten hit by a bus on the way to the hospital in labor – Life is random.
Ok my point was not convied very well @ all, I am sorry. I dropped out of high school to raise my kids and 2 years of college was all I could arrange. I tried the adoption thing and could not get through the interview side of things. But, had I $375 and a car my youngest would not be here. There is no way to convey a persons life experience in a comment box.
No, I dont mean from a political stance. I mean the social issue itself, as in the morality of an abortion…Its hard for me to arbitrarily discern what is life and what isnt after conception. Therefore, I feel like life is when the two gametes meet and create a zygote (conception). So what right to people have to take a life? We cant kill our born child, so why can we kill an unborn one? I’m just struggling with these questions. Help me out, CONVINCE ME, because i am a liberal otherwise..

again I’m no scientist but i would think a human is more complex than a tree a would chop those and when we chop those down is a travesty .
I just find it funny that the Republicans are supposedly pro-life when it comes to the unborn, but are so against healthcare reform to cover the millions of uninsured and save their lives. I guess if I was a fetus, Id be safe under Republican rule but not if I was aged 1-100.
Republicans say “If the Government gets into the health insurance biz, they will control your health and deny you treatments” yet they want the government to outlaw abortion, thus making the government control your body. So its only okay for the Government to drop the ban hammer on issues the GOP wants, even though the people voted them out of power last year.

Just ask yourself what you, personally, would do, if you were ever raped and became pregnant.
