The blues are simple but thats there thing and just because of a simple structure doesent mean its slow or lame. Also just because you can play it note my note means nothing music isnt just about playing each note at right pitch its about getting that and then making each note sing on top of that with emotion and articulation.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!! You really have no clue about music do you? Music is supposed to be soulful and bring out emotions, it is supposed to put aspects of the human condition in a form which can easily be understood with just a listen. Sure being able to play fast can have its place but you cannot see it as the whole point, it is just one possible tool a guitarist can use. Repetitive, super-fast, showboating may impress you the first time you hear it but to keep you coming back there has to be more.

Santana’s whole philosophy was that though many guitarists could play blinding riffs, they couldn’t carry a melody. He often substitutes technical playing (though he is still an incredible player) in order to convey what he felt was the fundamental basis of a good piece. The melody. Subin, I agree totally, anyone who thinks that speed alone makes a piece good is a detriment to the direction and future of music.
