I didn’t say he was a better singer, I said I liked his version of this song better. Is it okay to have that opinion? There are a million covers of this song and I’m sure each of them are somebody’s favorite. Ever think I may enjoy the males perspective more because I’m a man? Not sure what Riders in the Storm has to do with anything. You’re probably thinking of Jim Morrison another guy you should study alongside Van Morrison before you play Internet music critique.
Van Morrison? Are you kidding? Nina Simone is the best singer in the world, TO ME. R.I.P. No one does ANY song better than Nina Simone, TO ME. Simone ALWAYS make the song better–TO ME. Morrison isn’t even on my radar. Rider on the Storm is okay. This song in particular is like a surgeon cutting out cancer when Nina sings it. Morrison is just singing, Nina is curing cancer.
To Tom Waits…if you are “the” Tom Waits, musician….you working on anythng else or new of late??? Miss that raspy voice and lyrics.

The song was actually written by Bob Dylan with almost every cover being better than the original. Ninas is good, I’m a fan, but the best imo is Van Morrisons (live pacific high studios version). Check it out if you havent.
