  1. An excellent movie. It has a good plot; strong performances by the main and secondary actors and actresses; and has good audio and visual reproductions, especially considering it is a 70 year old movie.

  2. Remember when this movie was produced England was fighting for its very life against the Nazis. The British public needed something that was not war related for entertainment, and this fit the need perfectly.

  3. 40:25 Scriptwriter’s goof they didn’t pick up on.

    “What was it, Holmes?”
“Guess,…we’ve been entertaining Miss Adria Spedding.”

He means “…entertaining the Spider Woman.”

‘Adria Spedding’ had been announced by name repeatedly by both herself and Mrs. Hudson on her arrival. What Watson didn’t know (and Holmes had known for a long time) was that this Miss Spedding was the actual culprit.

  4. Ah, I love the intro musical numbers for old movies. Company logos have pretty much replaced them in new ones, and thus a lot of movie intro musics are actually pretty quiet. But I love the feeling how they subtly tell you “okay, now make no mistake, whatever’s coming now will make you crap your pants with excitement”.
