While I’m positive that one’s looks have a (disappointingly) large effect on pay, I don’t think it was stated that this study identified anything more than a correlation between weight and pay. I’m sure there are also factors that affect both weight and pay. I don’t think one’s weight is the sole cause of being paid more or less, unless the study normalized for other factors, like the correlation between frequency of exercise and worth ethic, for example.
